I think this post may become with the slightly short sentence this time, but want to mention the eating habits of the student(and us).
Milk, soybean milk, sweets or so are offered to the students as a snack other than lunch. Still the students eat lunch happily. We eat the lunch at the lunch space outside the school building. It is common in the elementary school of Japan that students do serving meals, but to the contrary, an adult do all the arrangements in the elementary school of Thailand. We experienced much traditional cooking of Thailand with lunch. There were many things which I could not eat only in Thailand. For example, yesterday we ate a kind of potato as a desert which is used when we make “Kuzumochi powder” in Japan. Our favorite lunch is Thai ramen. Also, it was surprised very young children could eat very spicy food. It seems they are accostomed to eat such dishes from their childfood.
They can have a refill of the lunch basically. But the student who can eat it can still use a small shop in the lunch break. Ice, many kinds of snacks, fried chicken, something to drink, as well as sea grapes are sold there. Even Thailand, it seems to be unusual that there is a shop in the elementary school. Also, junior high school near here has some stands too.I can buy not only the thing sold in an elementary school but also cut fruit and the tapioca juice there. And the stand of the junior high school is more available for a long time than an elementary school.
*These pictures is concerned about lunch and shop in elementary school.
At the time of the leaving school, most of students go home by bus. The complex station is one of the bus stops with many users to change a bus.(picture below) There is a food court here, and various food is sold cheaply. Many students enjoy ice and tapioca drink. The Thai traditional dishes are also sold. In addition, there are a library and the dormitories of Khon Kaen University near there. Therefore a stylish cafe and restaurant are available when I walk a lot. The number of drinks is abundant, and the cafe nearby the Khon Kaen University library is recommended.
In addition, a lot of Seven-Eleven advances to Thailand. In Japan, speaking of a convenience store, there is an expensive impression. However, I can purchase various things. Compared with a supermarket, an amount of money I use is almost same when I do shopping at a supermarket in Thailand. I spend time and can go to the supermarket by bus. We use Grab, which is pick up service, only when go back to our dorm. Without a car, it costs transportation expenses by all means to the supermarket. I think that the convenience store may use it positively to give quality of life.
Anyway, you may not have trouble with having a meal when you go to Thailand. Maybe, I considerably gained weight after I came to Thailand. Japanese particularly will be surprised at the inexpensiveness of the food expenses. Well, though I said so, you had better say everytime you try Thai food, “do not make it hot” in Thai.
By the way, I saw the students vote this morning. They seem to decide who will be in charge of student committee.
