Observation and teaching the class were over and now I have a little extra free time. This topic introduces the elementary school which I go along as a teacher. In this post, I would like to explain mainly about something concerned with a class. Please feel my school life realistically. I go to “Demonstration elementary school of Khon Kaen University. Because the elementary school attached of the university, there are a lot of well-bred children.
I observed some classes except the physical education. The atmosphere of the class vary by a teacher or students. We were in charge of the class of the student of the lower grades. They stop concentrating on it immediately. They love talking to ther friends even during class. The state was not in the class of the upper grades. I was surprised that some teachers let student sit on the floor not a chair. It was a class of mathmatics. They discussed how they explained the issue written by sentences using a figure, a sentence, an expression in a group. In the English class, the teacher of the native speaker sometimes teach it. There are a Chinese, a Filipino, a Pole in the office of my English teacher, but can speak all English fluently. I still heard that though it was a primary schoolchild, there was the class which specialized English. I went to see the class of the music of the second grade. To be frank, the students were noisy from beginning to end as there were a piano and a microphone in front of the student.
These are photograph of arts and crafts room and the science room. They are smaller at least than my elementary school. There was the arts and crafts room in several rooms, and a lot of works of the student were displayed.
PE teachers carry out the class of the physical education in the open space with the national flag, pilotis, or a gymnasium. The open space is used for a morning assembly. There is the morning meeting every day from 8:00. The students intone a sutra for Buddha. In addition, they perform something like event including commendation and the announcement of the student. Therefore it always takes around 45 minutes. As I do not know what they are doing at all, honesty may be bored. Many students enjoy basketball and volleyball in the gymnasium. When there are some kind of entertainments, the stage is used. While I was in Thailand, a student showed a dance by an art festival on a stage. We also have a play ground but there is no enough space due to plaything.
